Above all, however, it is important that general traffic recordings without significant incidents may not be stored without reason, as there are problems with data protection in this case. For this reason, many of our dashcams offer a loop function in which the oldest files are automatically overwritten and only important events, such as a collision, are saved separately.
In general, there are no precise regulations as to how long a dashcam can record. However, moving traffic may not generally be filmed for no reason. Most dashcams can store footage for around 12 hours, after which older dashcam videos are usually automatically transferred. With some dashcams, however, there is also the option of expanding the available storage space using a microSD card.
